Project Overview

Arinc 429 is a serial bus commonly used in the avionics field. Current technology for reading and writing Arinc 429 data is either very expensive, very bulky, or both. This project aims to develop a more convenient and easy to use way to read and write Arinc 429 data. We plan to do this using an ESP32-S3 microcontroller communicating with a cross platform Flutter mobile application via Bluetooth Low Energy.

Our team will write firmware for the ESP32-S3 chip to read the Arinc 429 data and transmit it over Bluetooth Low Energy in order for it to be read by mobile devices. The firmware will be developed using the ESP-IDF environment.

Our team will develop the mobile application using the Flutter framework in Android Studio. The Flutter app will be responsible for taking the Arinc 429 data in over Bluetooth Low Energy and displaying it for the user. The Flutter app will also display various metadata that is relevant to the user.

Jared is a Software Engineering and Mathematics double major. He is interested in problem solving and using basic tools for unintended purposes.

Nicholas is a Computer Engineering major. Nicholas is interested in firmware programming with a specific interest in programming Microcontrollers.

Nate is an Electrical Engineering major with an interest in circuit design. He enjoys solving new problems where he feels consistently challenged.
